I am always happy that I did not buy anything (that was tough) last year. Or should I say the past 6 months... I am going to wait till one of those PDA/Smart phones states that it has been Skype certified and that it comes with Skype Out credit. As a gift... Or maybe I should just buy something now. Some remarks :

no 3G support (no UMTS, no HSDPA)
has EDGE (fast GPRS)
has 802.11g (fast Wi-FI)
has built-in GPS receiver
has Bluetooth 2.0!
very thin and small
fast 400 Samsung MHz processor

Now that configuration will do for Skype VoIP communications, so why not buy something now and start saving on the phone-bill. It does do browser based authentication, yes? X500 Product Page.

Just some shots of calling and a thought on google in China.

Well this is the brave new world we live in, anno 2006 now. Look on the left: a guy in China that masks his face and voice on TV in order not to end up in jail in fear for his government, because he put some software on the market that allows people to surf freely on the internet, without going through the chinese firewall… (I guess it’s called freegate or sth. stuff like anonymizer and so on). This is worse than terrorism if you ask me.

I bought the Logitech headphones, keyed in a user name and password and entered the voucher number that came with the headphones. Once I heard a guy trying to talk to me but he could not hear me. Now I hear the musical tomes when I try to test but the womans voice comes out over the computer and my voicemail is silent when played back. The blue light is on, the plus sign has been clicked a lot and the in and out volume on my system preferences is set for the logitech headset and the volume is set in the middle. I keep e-mailing Skipe but never hear back from them. Any suggestons?

I just found something strange, that's not exactly an emoticon, but... well, his hidden, up to my knowledge :)

Try to send to someone the following text (without quotes): "B)"
...and see that it will become "omg, bug!".
Well, at least in Skype 1.3.0.53_API for Linux.
Would it be a bug alert for developers? Who knows?

Annoyingly Gizmo Project got there first, perhaps that's why there is no direct skype input. I tried that once last year and it worked very well with gizmo, but I dont want to clutter my desktop with one client per occasion ;-(
