Is Skype the official VoIP product of Hogwarts Academy?

Phil Wolff on July 15, 2005 12:09 AM

Do you have any idea how many people have Harry Potter as their real name or Skype names? Dozens! Out of millions!

Skype announces a muggle-magic gateway.
Skype to sponsor a wrestling match between Willie Wonka and Professor Dumbledore.
Boingo to open Skype-powered hotspots in Diagon Alley.

Well, this is a story that's going nowhere. Nope. No way to jump on that Harry Potter bandwagon. Kids going back to school in the fall could be using Skype but, come to think of it, I haven't seen much Internet access, mobiles, or even computers at Hogwarts. I mean do you even need Skype if you can just wave your wand?

What would Skype look like if designed by Hagrid?

If Skype was invisible and controlled just by wand waving, what gestures would you use to place a call? To answer one? To look someone up?

If you knew how to use a magic wand, what would you do to your Skype client? To Skype itself?
