A new Skype Roadmap was unveiled at the eBay Financial Analyst conference on Thursday May 4. One item touched my heart and soul. Send and receive money via Skype.

You can find out more by downloading this massive document. The pages to focus on are 281 and 290. Several other possible Skype-eBay functions are shown.

Many thanks to Skyper Ivo Hop in the Netherlands for the heads up on this news. I would have fallen asleep by page ten, some how Ivo made it to page 290.

There is a big irony. eBay bought Skype (semi-Estonian), but you CANNOT recieve money with Estonian eBay account (because eBay just don't trust on care so much).

So I (as Estonian) now had to make Chinese eBay account just to recieve money... krkrk...so stupid.

If it ever downloads, I will read the document and perhaps it will answer this question.
I think this is long overdue as a facility, and it will do wonders to drive the Skype take-up, however I am concerned that they haven't fully integrated the Paypal account into Skype. Do your calls get charged directly from Paypal, or is it a separate account? Will every Skype user get a Paypal account? Can I transfer money FROM Skype balance to my Paypal account?
This is a huge step towards mobile commerce, and to my mind, far bigger than video or any other feature that they've added.
If implemented correctly it could start to be disruptive to the banking industry (the internet has no borders and is not under the control of governments, they only think they can control it).
No wonder Mastercard are going for IPO!

Priit! The same thing with Latvians! We are in EU, but eBay seems to me still do not trust to us.
