Does not surprise me. When i worked as a programmer in the mobile business (SMS) we had these funny applications where we could hack the display of another SMS receiver by putting a message on the phone that was not removable.
Also, when we showed for the first time our senderID to a Telco (years ago and by using our software) they said it was not possible.
This proves to me that many of these Telco's don't know their network very well and that it is hackable.
