Skype Groups is released

Finally a way to manage SkypeOut credits distribution for a small business or family! It is called Skype Groups

Go get it. It is free!

We’ve developed this nice tool for the person in your group in charge of the money. Now you don’t have to fiddle around with credit cards and payments; instead the group administrator can allocate Skype Credit, SkypeIn numbers and Skype Voicemail to all members of the group. And it’s easy to print nice documents that will keep the people who care about the numbers happy, too.

The tool is free, of course, because we like free.

I tested it. It works!

Have just set-up a group account for my company and indeed it works as Bill stated. It starts to remove the administration nightmare when Skype is used in a company environment.

A couple of initial comments though on improvements (are we never satisfied?)

o Would be good to have a pool of SkypeOut credit which could be dynamically used by assigned members of the group. This would further reduce the admin overhead.

o I am assuming that alerts for low credit levels are raised to the administrator but haven't yet fully tested. If not then this would be a requirement to again help with the management of a busy office.

I see that the linked web page mentions toll free numbers for SkypeIn, but don't see where you can request a toll-free number (nor what the difference in rates is) on the actual Skype website. Any help?

Anybody know if there's an API for Skype Groups? Or if Skype plans to release it at all?
