The Ultimate Skype Video Experience Part 1

This is Part One of a series of tips and tricks to achieving the ultimate video experience.

Camera Setup

Right: Light from behind the web cam and the picture under the camera

Wrong: light from behind the subject

Three simple rules:

  1. Have the main source of light coming from behind the web cam.
  2. Keep the video pic of your buddy immediately below the web cam.
  3. Have the web cam level center to your eyes.

Following these rules will lead to balanced lighting. Both sides of your face should have equal lighting without shadows around your eyes, while making it easy to look directly into the camera to maximize eye contact.

This is extremely helpful! Thanks. I'm thinking of going the video route, and this has implications for how I set up my home office. As it stands, I'll have to shift my desk around to have better lighting. Good to know!

I have problems with the resolotion of my display, when i start SPONTANI it change form 1280x1024 to 640x??? whit 8 colors, my monitor is Sony Digital input, if anybody can help me
