all of a sudden buddy lists won't sort very effectively and you will end up renaming your buddies (Thus right click (Windows) on any buddy and you can rename them how you rename them can affect the order. Give them a number, or * for your business group team etc.)Plus once you rename them you won't get the timezone or presence information they could add. Use the top of the list trick on your Birthday or with special reason. Then change it back.

Additional Presence or the Extended Away Message:
Amending the trick above allows you to share with your buddies where you are, timezone information, a fun fact etc. So in this case don't put anything before your first name. The example is "Stuart Henshall" becomes "Stuart Henshall - SF GMT-8" or "Stuart Henshall | Loves Skype" or "Your Name | Company X". My daughter does this all the time in AIM, reporting on homework, TV programs watching etc. What we are doing here provides a similar effect.
