Skype PodCasting in Education

At Kansas State University, Wichaita Extension County Agent for Technology, Dennis Main, (Research and Extension Faculty) has a Skype PodCasting project that lends some real creditability and excitement to the subject of PodCasting. It is not just for entertainment or wantabe broadcasters. He has a very serious professional use in mind.

“I want to bring Skype PodCasting to our Extension Agents so they can more cost effectively deliver knowledge. I have been working with sophisticated audio streaming techniques for a couple of years now to create multi media events. Not cheap; not easy to master. Skype is free; simple to use; now I want a PodCaster to work with it so I can enable my Extension Agents.”

Since he was introduced to Skype he is now on a roll to “Developing a state-wide "AgentCasting" package...”

What Dennis is doing is exciting and has important contributions for technology transfer to the 3rd world as well as Kansas. Maybe this hot fad of PodCasting is turning into a trend.
