Skype Journal: Wishlist: support Lunar Calendars
October 4, 2005 08:25 AMBoth the Jewish New Year and the Islamic holy month of Ramadan started today. No coincidence. Both religions use a lunar calendar. Hundreds of millions of people use them when you include the Chinese calendar, Hebrew calendar, Hindu calendar, and Islamic calendar.
Lunar calendar support will become more relevant as Skype continues to:
- integrate with Outlook and other calendars;
- offer alerts, reminders, and scheduled calls;
- help buddies negotiate available times for conference calls; and
- support settings that change Skype's behavior based on the day, date, and time.
Skype's massive localization is a strategic advantage. Lunar alendaring and scheduling will build on that.
