So what are the bonus features you'd actually pay for in a video call tool?

Mmm, I don't know if I like the video option for Skype. I've tried videoconferencing with other software and I video just distracts and doesn't add anything to the "connected" feeling. For me the fact that the sound quality is so chrystal clear is much more important, it really feels as if the other person is in the same room as you!

Johan, there's an old test where people were shown video at different frame rates and different levels of audio quality. People tollerate much lower frame rates (bad, jerky video) if the audio quality is high.

I've personally found times in long video conversations when dropping/hiding the video client underneath other apps is just fine, even for extended periods. Sound carries the human connection for me more than the visual. But that's just me.
