Skype Journal: Chat Commands - Help

May 1, 2005 01:37 PM

Like to learn a few Skype chat commands. Just type in "/help" the next time you are in a chat session. Skype displays a set of available commands:
screen capture of Skype chat session with commands
/add
/help
/topic
/me
/history
/find
/fa or /
/leave
/alertson [text to match]
/alertsoff

/alertson is one of the more interesting. It will activate a bubble alert for any word(s) you associate with it. Useful in long multi-chats where you may just be searching or waiting for a particular topic to come up.

Thanks! The /alertson command is defintely useful. Already implemented it with parameters like: "action", "calendar" and names of people.

But, seems that you can't use it for more than one signle word. When you write "/alertson calendar action myName" the alert will appear only for the exact phrase "calendar action myName".

Just a little fix to make this feature like the standard comma delimeted tags marking (tag1, tag2, tag3...) and it's a original contribution of skype to the IM experience...
