Bill and Stuart,
It seems to me that the Skype API is only supported on Windows based computer. Is that right?
I'm not sure that this point is highlighted.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks, Steve. That's an important point. The API should be available on other platforms soon, but we don't know if that means in a week or a few months. Soon vs. Soooooooon.
UPDATE: It's available now for Linux.

Hello Bill,
I am developing a distant learning business around VoIP. As I do not have a technology background, your Skype API guide is of great help to me.
Thanks a lot!

Q: Is there a good reliable answering machine for Skype, I used one a couple of months ago and it trashed the Skype programme, on Skype boot up it caused a critical error even a complete re-install would not correct this problem, I had to install a backup to get Skype working again.
Why hasn't Skype got a built in answering machine anyway, it must be a simple task for the Skype team.
Skype for me is one of the best programmes to come out for a good while, keep the good work up.
Regards
Dave Mason

Dave,
Skype does now offer a built in voice mail / messaging feature for $15 euros per year or free with a SkypeIn account. Check out the accounts page. As an alternate check out www.pamela-systems.com, their answermachine is developing into a serious product with features that are different to what skype provides.

1. I want to create a speed-dial more than two digits by myself. I can find the account through the speed-dial in my application. But i don't know if a speed-dial has existed in the Skype. Is there a message to get the account of a Speed-dial in the API?
2. May i use the API to add some contacts in my own application?
3. My i use the API to login automatically?
