Skype Journal: First Port of Call to get help on Skype

April 5, 2005 02:12 PM

For many in need of help to solve a Skype problem the first stop is a post on the Skype Forum. Bless the newbees. :) :)

Few anxiety ridden readers can make it through the online documentation such as the Visual Guides for Windows. or (even more difficult) the FAQs . However there is a relatively new support service on the Skype Web Site two clicks away from the Help Tab on your Skype Client that is providing useful and often better information that in the FAQ and User Guides:

Skype Knowledgebase
Try it. I used it today to help a couple of lost Skypers on the Forum and it proved useful. I am sure it will get a lot better over time too.

Below the entry for the Knowledgebase is a Troubleshooter which should be coming soon. I had an opportunity to test this and found it helpful as well.

Good Skyping…

OK Skypies - wrap your brains round this - here's a challenge for you! I live in the UAE where the skype site is BLOCKED by the censors because our local phone provider has a monopoly and does not like competition. I just managed to download skype before it was banned. Consequently I cannot top up my account to make skype-out calls. If I could email skype accounts I could send them a top up with PayPal. Can anyone tell me how to get round this problem? Or do I just wait until I take a trip to Europe and top up from a computer there?

Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I live in Virginia--USA. I make frequent calls to St. Maarten. Can I obtain a St. Maarten phone number from SKYPE and talk from Virginia as though I was actually in St. Maarten.
Thanks for any help.
