TechCrunch art frames the Fring/Skype fight

Sometimes art frames a story. Here’s how a TechCrunch artist framed Skype telling Fring to stop its Skype gateway.

Here’s how Fring probably feels about it.

This is not a contest of equals. Skype is a heavyweight with more money, more cash flow, more brand and many more lawyers. Any contest would be unequal. Fring acted wisely to back off in the face of bullying.

I gave up in Skype recently, their customer service has to be one of the worst in the world. The only Skype phone I can get is around 5 years old unles I want to tie up a computer and cart that around with me. Mobile solutions are less than stunning even when using WiFi. In the UK it is far cheaper and better to call people on the acutal phone or mobile as many mobile plans /home plans are cheaper and better. Skype was a nice idea that was bounced from pillar to post and no one ever did anything with it, they relied on natural growth and never really innovated much. Now when someone has bought it that wants to make some cash for it they are strangling it with their greed. Skype is over, it may be a long painful death but it is over, move on people.
